a. About the Program
B. Design. is an undergraduate program where students learn how to design products, visual and graphic communication and user interface design and user experience (UI/UX) design. The B. Design program focuses on teaching students how to create interfaces that are visually appealing, easy to use and effective at communicating information. It is a mix of art, creativity, practical skills and most importantly about making the world around us look better and function smoothly.
B. Design is a four-year program.
Currently, NITTE SAPD is offering specializations in Product Design, Communication Design and UI/ UX design.
Starting from Fundamentals of Design, Design thinking and History of Design, which is common to all the three specializations, each of these courses will train the students in their respective specializations. There are practical aspects to the courses where students will work in appropriate labs and understand material exploration, model making and problem solving, related to design. The academic curriculum will be further enriched through seminars and workshops by industry experts, field visits and internships. This will give the students exposure to the latest trends in the field.
Students will be able to develop ideas, visualize them and execute the ideas as tangible products and real-life projects. A capacity to respond to clients and understand their requirements and respond to those needs with creative and unique solutions will be inculcated. Students also develop a sense of aesthetics that will enhance the beauty and add value to utilitarian aspects of their projects.
Students will explore projects that enhance their design thinking and critical thinking skills. They will be mentored to work on design solutions that include the latest concepts and technologies. With vertical progression of the semesters, the complexity of these projects will increase.
Digital skills are an integral part of the curriculum. Depending on the course, digital design skills will be taught.
Before joining the course, you can use your spare time to learn how to communicate your ideas visually, by drawing objects and people around you. Analyze the design of objects and make notes. Read about art and design history and know more about some of the best designers in India and abroad.
